Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-10

1. Scope and accountability

This Privacy Policy explains how MedBuddy by MedCognito ("MedBuddy", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use the service. MedCognito is responsible for the personal information it controls. Questions, access requests, correction requests, and privacy complaints may be sent to info@medcognito.com.

2. Information we collect

  • Account and profile information, such as your email address, optional name, exam track, exam date, and study preferences.
  • Learning activity, such as questions answered, results, mock-exam attempts, flashcard reviews, study-plan progress, and recommendation interactions.
  • Technical and usage information, such as page views, navigation, feature use, browser or device information, and security or error events.
  • Information you provide when you contact us or request support.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to provide, secure, maintain, and improve MedBuddy; show progress and schedule study activity; generate personalized study-plan and practice recommendations; communicate about your account or the service; measure product use; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use learning activity for third-party advertising.

4. AI-assisted features

Some study-plan, readiness, question-help, and flashcard wording is generated with an AI model. Plan and readiness summaries use limited aggregate study signals. Grounded question help may process approved educational question and knowledge-base content needed to explain the question. If you choose AI flashcard generation, the topic or notes you submit are processed to create the requested cards; do not include patient-identifying, protected or personal health, confidential workplace, or other sensitive information. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifiers to the model provider. AI wording explains or transforms the supplied material and evidence already calculated by MedBuddy; it does not choose your tasks, change study dates, or alter your workload. AI-generated guidance is educational support and is not medical advice. Verify clinical decisions against authoritative sources.

5. Disclosure to service providers

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate, secure, support, measure, or deliver MedBuddy features. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us and must protect it appropriately. We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect the rights or safety of users or MedCognito, or in connection with a corporate transaction. We do not disclose personal information for third-party advertising.

6. Retention and safeguards

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including account administration, security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete. You may request deletion of your account and associated learning information, subject to information we must retain by law or for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes. You can manage account email preferences from Profile. To make a privacy request, contact info@medcognito.com; we may need to verify your identity before responding.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

MedBuddy uses essential cookies and similar technologies required for sign-in, session security, and core functionality. We also use analytics technologies to understand product use and improve the service. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Your browser or device may provide additional controls for cookies and similar technologies; disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of MedBuddy from working.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. Your continued use of MedBuddy after an update means that you have received notice of the revised policy.
